Interview with Kat Faylor of PATH Paranormal Society

I had a chance to sit down with the founder of P.A.T.H. Paranormal Society, Kay Faylor, for an interview. Here is what was said.

Q: What is your team name, and what do you guys do?
A: P.A.T.H. Paranormal Society. We are a team of professional paranormal investigators dedicated to the study, research, and documentation of paranormal activity and to helping those in need. We provide free business and residential investigations and travel throughout the United States investigating reports of paranormal activity.

Q: How long have you guys been together?
A: P.A.T.H. was founded in 1998. Although some team members do change from time to time the core of the team has been the same since 1998.

Q: What got you interested in becoming a paranormal investigator?
A: Personal experiences as a child and a strong desire to use scientific methods to discover the answers to the unknown.

Q: What types of locations are your favorite to investigate?
A: I truly love being able to help people so I'd have to say that the locations involving a home or business are my favorite, however I also really love a nice scary location that has so much to discover.

Q: How many investigations a year do you do?
A: In Indiana we try to go out or schedule investigations every weekend from March to October taking a break to just train from Nov-Feb due to the weather. I travel year round throughout the United States consulting on cases or investigating with other teams as well.

Q: What is your favorite type of evidence to uncover?
A: Although EVPs are probably the hardest to debunk and are very cool to get my ultimate goal would be to capture a full body apparition in a photo.

Q: How long do your team investigations usually last?
A: Depending on the size of the location and the activity reported I would say we spend, on average, approximately 5-7 hours including set up and take down, if there are no time constraints of the clients.

Q: What is your team's goal for the paranormal field?
A: To someday find definitive proof of paranormal activity. To be able to prove that spirits exist without a shadow of a doubt.

Q: What is your take on Paranormal Unity?
A: Paranormal Unity enables a far greater ability to find the answers we all seek. The opportunity for many teams to come together and share ideas, theories, inventions, methods, knowledge, experiences, and wisdom creates a wider view into the field and a better chance to reach the common goal. True paranormal investigators are scientists, by all rights, and to have so many great minds working towards the same goal opens so many more doors.

Q: What do you think about all of the Paranormal Drama in the field?
A: I think it takes up so much valuable time that could be spent on actually finding the answers we all seek. It does nothing more than show the immaturity of those who start it or keep it going in a field where maturity and wisdom are do greatly needed. To waste so much time on treating this field as a competition takes us two steps back when we should be moving one step ahead at all times.

Q: What would be your best advice to give to new investigators?
A: Be true to the field, be true to yourself, and be true to the goal. Even one moment of attempting to fake anything takes you out of the game as a respected investigator in this field. If you are truly in this field to find honest proof you will be willing to spend a lifetime searching for it without ever having to fake a thing. Learn as much as you can as often as you can. This field is based on research and education and is constantly changing with every step we take. Keep up on all that is new and never stop trying to learn more.

Q: What type of equipment do you use during investigations?
A: Digital still cameras, Digital I.R. Nightvision cameras, I.R. Nightvision camcorders, Full Spectrum Video Camera, DVR system with I.R. cameras and monitors, EMF detector, K2 Meter, Tri-field Meter, Digital Audio Recorders, Temp Gun, Compass (used like an EMF detector), Ovilus, Motion Detectors, Laser Grid, Candles and wind chimes (also used as air motion detectors inside), Dowsing Rods, and several target objects based on the location and activity reported.

Q: Are you currently looking for new members? If so, what type of members are you looking for?
A: Honest, reliable, respectful, mature, and open minded to not only the science of the field, but also having fun and bonding with the team as a family. 18 years of age or older with reliable transportation. Must be willing to complete all training courses and tests and have an objective mind.

Q: What is your take on investigators faking evidence?
A: If you have to try to fake evidence you are not a real paranormal investigator. Faking anything that pertains to any investigation is the true sign of someone who is desperate for attention and someone who has no right to be in this field. I would rather be known as the team that spent more time getting nothing and being willing to do so in the name of science than a team that got many things, but had to fake it to get it. Our team "rules" state that anyone even attempting to fake evidence or fabricate experiences will immediately be expelled. We have a zero tolerance for faking anything!

Q: What is your team's dream location to investigate?
A: The Castles of Ireland.

Q: Where do you see this field in 10 years from now?
A: Wiser, but still advancing. Although I would love to be able to say that 10 years from now we will have all the answers, I know that it is wishful thinking. We may have a long way to go, but ultimately it is my wish that someday we will be able to show the world what we so diligently search for...proof.

Q: Do you have any upcoming events that you'd like to discuss?
A: P.A.T.H. Paranormal Society has been invited to investigate The Willard Library in Evansville, Indiana. A featured location on many webcam sites known for it's paranormal activity and the home of the "Grey Lady". Only two teams are featured each year for this investigation and we are proud to be one of the two for this upcoming year.
